Pirate Assassination

I was on one pirate ship when we docked with another. We had just come back from a strange port about 7 miles northward, where there wasn't supposed to be a port. The other ship was run by our ship's captain's brother.

The crews mingled, and it was a much welcome break. The other captain, however, sneaked around, and soon a bang was heard and our captain fell to the ground. We were mystified until someone suggested that it might have been a gun. So, the captain's brother took over.

He was a harsh ruler, and immediately banned such things as using the clothing drier's fan. He thought that it was unnessecary.

In the center of the ship there were two rectangular pits, each surrounded by 3 people, one by men, one by women. They had to sit there all day long. I, some classmates, and some parents took up residence beside one of theses pits. Shortly afterwards, I went to sleep.
