Paper Boatcraft

I was in a class dedicated to the art of making little intricate paper boats and planes and such. We were only about a month into the class, but had already gotten quite far. The class took place in a little inlet, and I had a little station where I'd swim back to to work on my creations. When I was ready to test them I'd swim back out and let them do their best.

I had a calender that showed me all of the tests and projects that were coming up in the class. We'd apparently just come back from a break, and the professor deleted all my old projects from the calender to make things easier. I realized that this just hid the actual projects though; I could still retrieve my models. Apparently I was supposed to collaborate with someone else in the class, whose assignments were also on this calender; they were a week ahead of me.

I was playing with a long sailing ship I'd made which had many sails along it's whole length. There were something like 5 main sails and then quite a few smaller supporting sails. It was quite speedy; when I turned it up to it's highest safe speed setting, 7, it's prow raised a little out of the water and it left quite the wake. I feared that if I turned the speed up any more it'd tip.

We held a little impromptu race involving my ship and someone else's earlier model. The other model was smaller, without as many sails, but it was also pretty fast. During the race, however, it kept tipping over, and so my boat won.

We could also make models which could fly; At one point I made a tiny little bird which would flutter around me, land on me for a bit and then fly off again. Since it was so small, I was surprised that it had lasted so long; it could shift in the breeze, but didn't really have any wings to speak of. Eventually it disappeared; I figured it fell into the water.

An Apartment in Berlin

I was at an informal banquet with some other people from my dorm, flirting with a girl dressed in a black leather shirt and skirt. Once the banquet ended, I started to head home but had some difficult. Apparently I had an apartment in Berlin, Maryland where I was staying. I kept having trouble getting back to Berlin though; I wasn't sure how to get there from the banquet. I tried searching for a map online but couldn't find one, and kept getting random places.

As I made my way back I found a party where a bunch of people from my dorm were. It was huge, taking place in some sort of little abandoned town. Some football players were there in full gear, kicking a giant football back and forth. I ran across the field of play a few times instead of going around it, and the football players warned me each time; the ball was apparently very dangerous, being about the size of a human. At the start of each round it was shot out of a shed at rather high speeds.

I finally got back to Berlin and found my apartment hidden down a corridor in what was apparently the town's main building. At this point I was pushing around my tank of sea monkeys, which had become several times larger than usual. There were also now some feeder fish randomly growing in it, apparently having recently hatched from eggs which had sneaked in with the sea monkeys'. They looked like little tiny transparent eels, but were much larger than the brine shrimp. I panicked about this initially, as I realized that the feeder fish, which people put in fish tanks to clean them, would eat all the algae that the sea monkeys usually ate.

A Visit to Taiwan

I was in Taiwan with my parents, being given a tour by a family friend. The friend was dressed rather oddly, wearing a strange set of goggles in addition to her dress. These goggles obscured her age, making her appear quite young although I knew she was at least as old as my parents. She had her hair arranged in a single braid.

At one point we were taking a boat tour; Taiwan was largely covered by water, and many people actually lived in the water. This was apparently one of the reasons that the family friend wore goggles. There wasn't enough room in the boat for all of us and so I had been given a floatation device and was hanging onto the back. The boat was moving pretty slowly, if at all, and sometimes I'd swim around beside it. The water was very clear and there were quite a few other people in the water, although they were pretty far away from our boat. They looked well-outfitted to stay in the water.

We stopped to eat a rather exotic meal, served in various wire-frame containers. It start off with some delicious but relatively familiar Asian food. After that, however, we were served a strange dish of green shrimp and an odd plant or animal which looked like a long, narrow slab of meat covered with sheets of seaweed. The shrimp weren't too bad, but I couldn't stand the other piece of food. My parents told me to politely put it back in my dish.

Next we went to visit a casino. I was pretty confused by this at first, as they used cookies as bargaining chips and such. We went up to a counter and had to point to the numbers that we wanted to bet on.

Here I learned that the government of Taiwan wanted to make the nation the world's largest producer of some sort of natural crop, and that various groups were suffering as a result of this effort.

The Vase Quest

I was in a distant town with my sister, about to embark on a dangerous quest. One of my friends who had been on a similar quest had already given up and gone back home. I had just found a vase and completed a riddle which had revealed the next part of my quest.

I told my sister I'd be back just as soon as I finished this part, but as I turned my back I started to cry because I knew I might not be back.

I made my way to a island fortification in a small bay and started crossing one of the rope-and-plank bridge which crossed the water between the island and the mainland. When I got to the center of this part of the fortification, I saw someone. I wasn't sure, however, if they were a goblin or a human, so I didn't know if I should attack them or not.

Shortly after I realized it was a goblin, the creature grabbed me by the arm and escorted me back to the mainland. It was at this point that I remembered that goblins were neutral creatures; they could be evil or good, depending on the situation.

As I was escorted off I also realized that they were currently filming a movie here, and that it was actually my quest to be in a movie. I talked to someone nearby and they told me that, in addition to the movie currently being filmed, there were films that were going to be shot tonight and tomorrow. Tonight there was going to be another fantasy film, and tomorrow a film whose main character was inspired by Pooh Bear was going to be filmed.

I got on my bicycle and started riding to the on deck on the other side of the bay from which the movie crews selected cast members. The way was rather rough, going through quite a bit of farmland. Some of the crops had been crudely cut down to make a bit of a path. At one point I had to pull my bike under a plastic fence that someone was putting up. Soon after this I realized that the bike I had been riding was not actually mine, as the handlebars were different and it had hand-brakes, which mine didn't.

A little later I realized I was getting far too close to the shore and grabbed a signpost to keep from falling in. Unsure if I could lift myself back up without falling into the water, I waited there and tried to get other people to help me.

Someone stopped by and taught me a bit about the place where I was, telling me, among other things, that the secret to getting back up was to use my legs, not just my arms, and that if an animal came by they were there to help me, not hurt me. The last fact struck me as odd; I wondered how my teacher knew that all animals would want to help me.
