Store of Knits

I was running a store where we were selling "knitted" animals. It was the first day, and the counter consisted, more or less, of a few foldable tables. The room was oddly shaped, and the walls were covered with large store windows, except for the wall behind the counter, which was solid, and two other walls which were in a corner of the room, forming a box with the outside wall, right beside a trap door in the ceiling which lead to the next floor.

I was very proud that we had our own store. I had a few of the items that we were selling in a box underneath the counter. Rather than being knitted, however, they were just odd knotted pieces of yarn which looked vaguely like animals. Nevertheless, we received a few customers and sold some merchandise. I then had to leave, and went on a sort of grocery adventure with a few other people in an attempt to procure some foodstuffs.

When I returned, the other people who were a part of the operation had rearranged the counter and other furniture. I was delighted at the change, as now the counter was against the solid walls which formed the box in a corner of the room, and we had a small set of stairs behind them leading to the next floor. In addition, some comfy looking chairs and a small table had been arranged to make a little lobby where people could sit and knit. I also discovered in the sample-box a delightful snail which I had evidentially made, not made from knotted yarn but fully knitted and stuffed, as well as decorated with glitter and the like.

At this point another customer came in, requesting a few animals. I became a bit nervous for not being prepared, as we didn't have the animals in the colors that she wanted. I cast on the stitches to knit the first one, however, while she waited. I then buzzed around behind the counter, neglecting to knit it. I apologized to the woman, who explained that she needed the animals quickly, as they were evidentially for some children at a birthday party that afternoon.
