Lucid at a Friend's House

I was at a friend's house, where we were sleeping over. It was pretty late in the morning, but I was trying to get in some more sleep because I was still quite tired. There were a bunch of people crowded on a couch, including my friend's brother and her mom, but I seemed to have a bed to myself, one which was somewhat like my real bed.

Something about the situation made me do a reality check, so I looked at my hands. They didn't look all that strange, but they were slowly morphing; one of my fingers was splitting in two, and some of the others were weird lengths. I wasn't sure at first if it was a dream, but then I realized that even though my hands didn't look as crazy as they had before in dreams they still definitely didn't look like they did in real life.

Once I realized I was dreaming, I flew around a little bit. I went up above the building complex where my friend apparently lived, and could see the roofs; some of the looked like they had some machinery on them. I flew through the roof of one of the buildings, looking for people to talk to. This building seemed mostly empty, but I found my friend's grandfather alone at a fancy dining table, and said hello politely to him.

At this point the dream started to disappear, with the details all fading away into nothing. I quickly rubbed my hands together, which seemed to help a lot; the room and my friend's grandfather all quickly reappeared in full detail. I decided to spin around a bit for good measure; this was the first time I'd tried that, and I'm not sure if it actually helped, but I did it pretty much the same way you fly. My surroundings seemed to blur, but everything was still there when I set myself down on the ground.

I spent the rest of the dream mostly just walking and flying around and watching the dream. It seemed that most of the people I knew at college were there, as well as some from high school. A part of the house was being used by the Ballroom Dance club, as a bunch of members were waiting outside until that part was unlocked. I milled around there, then went inside into a school art room, where people were washing their hands. My mouth tasted strange, like it had sand in it or maybe from my retainer, so I got some water and rinsed it out. I felt silly since I was doing this in a dream, but it seemed to help. Some other people were talking about how the water there had sand in it, but I didn't notice that.

I walked through the house back to the part about where people had been napping on the couch before. Now it was being renovated though, and was just a really large empty concrete room. Lots of people from college were milling around in it; I saw my roommate and his girlfriend in the back, but wasn't sure if I wanted to talk to them. I also saw another friend from college in the room, while I was flying above the ground. I expected him to say something about my flying, but he just greeted me and gave me a high-five or something. Somewhere around this point I woke up.

I looked at my hands several times in the dream after I'd become conscious, to confirm that I was still dreaming and to remind myself of that. They looked mostly normal then, and I had to fly a little to be sure I was still dreaming.
